A woman has been taken to hospital with a 'suspected broken leg' after falling from a pier off Cullercoats Bay.
On Sunday, July 10 at around 5.53pm, Tynemouth Volunteer Life Brigade received a call to assist RNLI Beach Lifeguards at Cullercoats Bay to care for a 21 year-old man who had fallen from the pier on the south side of the Bay. It is understood the woman suffered a suspected broken leg.
Members of the brigade arrived to the area, and used their first aid equipment to stabilise and support the woman.
They assisted her into the care of the North East Ambulance Service who took her to the hospital for further assessment and treatment.
A spokeswoman for the North East Ambulance Service said: "We were called at 5.38pm yesterday (10 July) to reports of a woman injured on Cullercoats beach. We dispatched one ambulance crew and transported the patient to Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital for further treatment."
