21-year-old student Patrick Smith dies after plunging from Edinburgh flat window

A 21-year-old student has tragically died after plunging from a third-floor flat window in Edinburgh.

Patrick Smith, from Ayrshire, fell from the window of a flat on Warrender Park Road in the early hours of Sunday morning (8 September).

Officers rushed to the flat in the city's Marchmont area where the 21-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police are treating the death as unexplained but confirmed to the Daily Record there are no suspicious circumstances.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "Police in Edinburgh were called to the Warrender Park Road area at around 3.20am on Sunday 8th September following a report that a man had fallen from a third-floor window.

"Emergency services attended but the 21-year-old was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

"The death is being treated as unexplained, but not suspicious, and a report has been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal."

Friends have taken to social media in an outpour of emotional tributes for their friend.

Kayleigh Haggo wrote on Facebook: "Patzo. I can’t believe you have been taken from us, life is so unfair.

"You were the kindest, most loving person that anyone could ever meet. There was never ever ever a dull moment when you were around.

"I’m so lucky to have so many memories that I will treasure forever. Thank you so much for everything. Rest in peace angel."
