21 more people have died with coronavirus in Greater Manchester's hospitals

Another 21 people have died from coronavirus in Greater Manchester's hospitals.

It means the region's hospital death toll now stands at 2,657.

Seven more people are reported to have died at Pennine Acute NHS Trust - which runs hospitals in Bury, Rochdale, Oldham and North Manchester - in the last 24 hours.

Another four deaths were recorded at Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust, while Stockport NHS Foundation Trust and Tameside & Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust each reported three more deaths.

Two more people are reported to have died at Salford Royal, while Bolton NHS Foundation Trust and Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust each recorded one more fatality.

The total number of coronavirus deaths at hospital trusts in Greater Manchester, as of Friday, October 31 is:

  • Bolton NHS Foundation Trust - 284
  • Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust - 9
  • Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust - 523
  • NHS Nightingale Hospital North West - 6
  • Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust - 678
  • Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust - 6
  • Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust - 224
  • Stockport NHS Foundation Trust - 253
  • Tameside & Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust - 325
  • The Christie NHS Foundation Trust - 15
  • Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust - 334

Across the North West 57 coronavirus-related deaths have been recorded in the last 24 hours.

In total a further 163 people, who tested positive for the Coronavirus have died in England, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals to 32,647.

Patients were aged between 42 and 100 years old. All except four (aged 60 to 90 years old) had known underlying health conditions.

The deaths come as cases of coronavirus in England have jumped 47% in one week, according to new data.

The Office for National Statistics (ONS) infection survey found cases 'continued to rise steeply', with an average of 51,900 new cases per day of Covid-19 in private homes between October 17 and 23.

This is up 47% from 35,200 new cases per day for the period from October 10 to 16, according to the ONS estimates.

Overall, around one in 100 people had Covid-19 over the course of the latest week.
