It's that time of the year, the racing has shifted from the one-day Spring Classics to the start of the summer stage races and Grand Tours but nestled in between is a weeklong treat: a concentration of Road National Championships around the world.
Some of the world's national champions have already been crowned, especially in the southern hemisphere. Jay Vine and Felicity Wilson-Haffenden won the elite time trials and Patrick Eddy and Mackenzie Coupland claiming the elite road titles at the Australian Road Championships. Finn Fisher-Black and Ella Wyllie took the time-trial titles, and George Bennett and Ally Wollaston the road titles, in New Zealand.
National Championships have also already been held across Bolivia, Chile, Ecuador, Colombia, Uruguay, and Costa Rica, as well as Finland, Egypt, Thailand, Japan, Panama, the Philippines, Zimbabwe, Namibia, South Africa, and the United Arab Emirates, to name a few.
The next block of national championships includes the USA and Canada, along with European events in Germany, Great Britain, the Netherlands, Italy, Ireland, Belgium, France and Spain.
