An absolutely wild back nine on Sunday at the Players Championship ended with Cameron Young tapping in for par and the win at TPC Sawgrass.
Ludvig Aberg had a two-stroke lead heading into the back nine but then disaster struck as he bogeyed the 11th, double bogeyed the 12th, and bogeyed the 15th to fall out of contention.
Matt Fitzpatrick then took the lead but Young’s birdie on 17 tied them up going into 18. Fitzpatrick hit his drive into the trees on the right and later missed an 8-foot par putt that would have likely set up a playoff. Instead, Young then tapped in for the biggest win of his career. Young finished at 13 under.
