The FedEx Cup playoffs have arrived, and the top 70 players from the PGA Tour's regular season were invited to the opening event, the FedEx St. Jude Championship. It offered a $20 million purse, with $3.6 million to the winner.
Justin Rose is taking home the big check, turning in a fierce Sunday rally with four consecutive birdies from Nos. 14-17 to surge past Tommy Fleetwood and into the playoff, then defeating J.J. Spaun on the third playoff hole with a birdie. It's his 12th PGA Tour win.
The top 50 players in points now advance to next week's BMW Championship and Rickie Fowler, Kurt Kitayama, Jhonattan Vegas, Bud Cauley and J.T. Poston played their way inside the top 50 at the FedEx St. Jude. On the flip side, Jordan Spieth, Wyndham Clark, Aldrich Potgieter, Jake Knapp and Min Woo Lee fell out of the top 50.
