The 2024 Oscars are set to take place on Sunday, March 10 at the Dolby Theatre at Ovation Hollywood in Los Angeles. Jimmy Kimmel will be hosting the prestigious event for the fourth time, accompanied by a star-studded lineup of presenters. Kimmel's decision to return as host was influenced by the anticipation of popular movies being nominated, making it easier to engage the audience with relatable jokes.

The 2023 Oscars saw the success of movies like 'Barbie' and 'Oppenheimer,' which resonated well with viewers and provided ample material for the show's writers. The Oscars this year will air an hour earlier than usual, coinciding with the start of daylight saving time in the U.S.

Not without controversy, the 2024 Oscars have faced criticism for notable snubs in the best actress and best director categories. Additionally, films vying for the best picture award must meet specific representation and inclusion standards to be eligible.

The ceremony will be broadcast on ABC in the U.S., starting at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT, with a pre-show beginning at 6:30 p.m. ET/3:30 p.m. PT. The event is expected to conclude by 10:30 p.m. ET/7:30 p.m. PT, followed by a new episode of the sitcom 'Abbott Elementary' on ABC.

Among the highlights of this year's Oscars are the lineup of presenters, including Zendaya, Ryan Gosling, America Ferrera, and many more. The show will feature past acting winners introducing this year's nominees, adding a touch of nostalgia and prestige to the event.

All nominated best original song contenders will be performed during the ceremony, with notable performances from artists like Billie Eilish and Jon Batiste. Leading the nominations this year are films like 'Oppenheimer,' 'Poor Things,' 'Killers of the Flower Moon,' and 'Barbie,' competing for the coveted best picture award.

The Oscars will showcase a diverse array of first-time acting nominees, including Emily Blunt, Sterling K. Brown, and Lily Gladstone, among others. Noteworthy records include Gladstone as the first Native American acting nominee and Martin Scorsese as the most nominated living movie director.

In the best directing category, Justine Triet stands out as the sole female nominee, alongside renowned directors like Christopher Nolan and Martin Scorsese. Stay tuned for more updates on how to watch the Oscars and predictions for this year's winners!
