2024 NFL mock draft: Eagles reload in secondary with All-American cornerback

The Eagles are 10-4 and looking to snap a three-game losing streak when they host Tommy DeVito and the New York Giants on Christmas Day.

Even with Nick Sirianni’s team clinching a playoff berth for the third straight year, it’s never too early for a look ahead at the NFL draft.

Philadelphia has never drafted an off-the-ball linebacker in the first round, and they won’t this spring either, but Howie Roseman will reload in the trenches and could get a familiar name in the second round.

We’re looking ahead, and mock draft roundups have the Birds restocking in the trenches or the secondary.

Iowa State Cyclones’ defensive back T.J. Tampa (2) knocks out a pass intended to Texas Longhorns wide receiver Adonai Mitchell (5) during the second quarter in the Big-12 football showdown at Jack Trice Stadium on Saturday, Nov. 18, 2023, in Ames, Iowa

PFF has the Eagles addressing the cornerback spot.

32. PHILADELPHIA EAGLES: CB T.J. TAMPA, IOWA STATE
Record: 10-2
Player ADP (via MDS): 43.6
Player Big board rank: 43
Cornerback seems like the easiest position to have the Eagles target in a mock draft. Tampa feels like a player they’d gravitate toward, as he is 6-foot-2 and 205 pounds. His long arms show up in the nine forced incompletions he’s recorded this season. He doesn’t play as much press coverage as one might expect for a player of his measurables, but his time spent in off-coverage has only improved his instincts.

PROJECTED TEAM
Philadelphia

Philadelphia took on a massive project like Jordan Mailata and that worked out well. Kingsley Suamataia is the newest project with a much higher floor than Mailata had at this point in his career.

30. Philadelphia Eagles | Terrion Arnold, CB, Alabama

The Eagles’ secondary has held them back in spurts from playing more consistently against top opponents in the NFL. As James Bradberry appears to regress, it’s time to add a first-round-caliber player to the group. Alabama’s Terrion Arnold was lock-down throughout the year in 2023 and can start immediately for Philadelphia.

NBC Sports Chicago has Philadelphia reloading in the trenches.

28. Philadelphia Eagles: OT – Amarius Mims, Georgia

The Eagles’ offensive line’s reputation as an elite physical unit is being challenged due to their on-field inefficiency. Over the past three games, Philadelphia averaged just 16.3 points per game and less than four yards per carry (3.8). Mims is a massive six-foot-seven, 330-pound behemoth of a man who plays to his size, showcasing an unapologetic mean streak backed with powerful arms and a balanced base.

The San Diego Union Tribune has the Eagles adding another cornerback from Georgia.

30. Philadelphia (10-4) — Kamari Lassiter, CB, Georgia, Jr.

The Eagles’ secondary has struggled mightily this season. GM Howie Roseman collects former Bulldogs and Lassiter is a two-year starter in the SEC despite being a true junior. He’s 6-foot tall and features enough straight line speed to thrive on the perimeter. Top needs: DT, DB, Edge
