2024 NFL draft: Giants currently slated to select 5th

The New York Giants entered their Week 16 Christmas Day matchup as heavy road underdogs against the Philadelphia Eagles.

The game was much closer than many anticipated but the Giants fell to the Eagles, 33-25, dropping their record to 5-10 and eliminating them from postseason contention.

Following the loss, the Giants are currently slated to pick fifth overall in the 2024 NFL draft, according to Tankathon.

Although any discussion over drafting a quarterback has more to do with a belief in Daniel Jones, it will be interesting to see where the Giants go at quarterback over the final two weeks.

The Giants will wrap up the season with two home games — hosting the Los Angeles Rams and the Eagles at MetLife Stadium.

The Giants could move up to the third or fourth slot if things were to shake out correctly over the final two weeks.

While general manager Joe Schoen seems pretty committed to Daniel Jones, if he feels there is a desirable talent at QB, picking in the top five could get the Giants close enough to trade up territory.

The Giants have plenty of needs on the roster so the great debate over targeting a quarterback will likely continue from now to the spring.

As much as Giants fans would have loved to beat the Eagles, having Big Blue slated with a top-five pick is a nice silver lining.
