2023 NFL draft: Updated 7-round Steelers mock draft

Buy Steelers Tickets

Thanks to the Pittsburgh Steelers win over the New Orleans Saints, the team now holds the No. 10 overall pick in the 2023 NFL draft as opposed to the No. 4 overall pick going into the weekend. Since this sort of shift has huge implications for the team’s picks, we decided to update our seven-round mock draft.

First round-OT Peter Skoronski, Northwestern

Mean nasty blocker who works well in space. Skoronski has been absolutely dominant this season and his experience shines. He’s an instant starter at right tackle, which would allow Chuks Okorafor to slide over and replace Dan Moore Jr.

Second round-EDGE Nolan Smith, Georgia

Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

Georgia’s Nolan Smith is an elite athlete with NFL-level explosion and get-off. His ability to drop into coverage only adds value to his draft stock and would be the perfect third edge player in the Steelers rotation.

Second round-DT Siaki Ika, Baylor

Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports

The Steelers have needed a huge nose tackle to eat up blockers and force double teams since Casey Hampton retired and Siaki Ika fits the bill. At 6-foot-4 and nearly 360 pounds, Ika is built to be that two-down intimidator the defense needs.

Third round-OC John Michael-Schmitz, Minnesota

John Michael-Schmitz has been a three-year starter at center for Minnesota and plays with a tremendous amount of intelligence and experience. Michael-Schmitz is an absolute mauler as a run blocker with his lower-body strength and punch.

Fourth round-CB Kyu Blu Kelly, Stanford

Kelly is a strong run defender from the cornerback spot and has the tools in coverage to be a solid project player while he cuts his teeth as a big hitter on special teams.

Seventh round-WR Dontay Demus Jr., Maryland

Scott Taetsch-USA TODAY Sports

The Steelers traded away Chase Claypool but always find a way to scout sleeper wide receivers. Dontay Demus Jr. has a strong NFL frame and breakaway speed. He needs coaching to prepare for the level of physicality he needs for the NFL

Seventh round-S Jammie Robinson, Florida State

Jammie Robinson is a longshot but worth a late-round flyer based on his physical tools. He is explosive but very raw and will need some time.
