Infiniti QX55
Just when you thought significant 2020 announcements had ended, along comes Infiniti to steal the show with their stunning QX55 SUV. On November 18, Nissan’s luxury brand, Infiniti, launched an all-new QX55 SUV packed with great features that fans are already dying to try for themselves. It’s set for release in the US and Canada in spring 2021 as a 2022 model.
A Huge Reveal For A Remarkable Design:
The announcement of the QX55 was hardly a toned-down affair, and indeed why should it be? It was unveiled by Grammy-winning singer and general all-round global superstar Aloe Blacc in the Belasco Theater in Los Angeles. Blacc remarked, “The all-new Infiniti QX55 is classy. It just looks sleek, and it feels like it’s quality.”
In this regard, Blacc was not wrong. The design of the QX55 features many hallmarks that people expect from the brand, like the double-arch grille. It also included some really unique elements like the Japanese-inspired origami-style mesh pattern on that grille. You’ll find elegant lines and subtle curves around the entire body that adds a sporting edge but never feels like too much.
Metallic trims and accents sweep the windows, front grille, and crisp LED lights add to the clean fresh look, as do the glittering 20″ alloys that sit in the wheel arches. Together it creates quite the ensemble of design.
Notable Exterior Features:
We described above the unique grille design inspired by traditional Japanese art, but there are more newsworthy features in the new QX55. At the rear of the vehicle, you’ll find a nod to Japanese minimalism and elegance in the rear light housings, as well as the simple and unfussy liftgate. There’s a bit of the very modern, too, in the form of digital “piano key” taillights made up of some 45 separate LEDs in one housing. It’s a light signature that’s highly contemporary and in line with the overall subtle elegance of the design.
Spacious And Stylish Interior:
In other news, the interior of the QX55, from what we’ve seen, is dated already based on older Infiniti products. The cabin looks to be open and spacious, features Infiniti’s dual-screen infotainment system with an 8″ upper screen and a 7″ lower screen. This system will have Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility as standard. There will be leatherette, leather, or semi-aniline leather for the seats, and an available Bose audio system to add ambiance to the interior feel.
Powertrain:
We know the new QX55 will also be carrying Infiniti’s Variable Compression Turbo 4-cylinder engine delivering 268 hp and 280 lb-ft of torque. It’s capable of making the tiniest changes to both compression and displacement to optimize its efficiency and power to suit the driver’s current need.
In terms of transmission, it will feature a CVT with manual shift mode, and Infiniti Intelligent AWD system will also be standard on all models of the QX55. Drive modes will include Standard, Eco, Sport, and Personal.
Pricing:
It’s estimated that the QX55 base model in 2021 will start at around $40,000, and the top-end model will fetch $60,000. These numbers are, however, unconfirmed by any of the latest press releases from Infiniti.
