2021 NFL free agency: Desmond King’s projected market value

The Tennessee Titans acquired defensive back Desmond King ahead of the 2020 NFL trade deadline in order to bolster a struggling, injury-plagued secondary, but now he’ll be hitting the open market in 2021.

King manned the slot for Tennessee and finished with 31 combined tackles (two for loss), one interception, one fumble recovery for a touchdown, two passes defensed, one sack and one QB hit in nine games for the Titans.

In coverage, the veteran didn’t look so hot, as he allowed a completion rate of 70.6 percent, a QB rating of 117.5 and three scores when targeted.

Unfortunately for Tennessee, King didn’t quite provide the boost the team was desperately in need of, as the Titans’ pass defense ultimately ranked No. 29 in the NFL. Of course, there were plenty of other factors aside from King that played into that ranking.

According to Spotrac, King’s projected market value in free agency is a four-year, $27.5 million deal, which works out to an annual average of $6.8 million per season.
