Ah, 2021. What an… interesting time to be alive. We’ve seen Dan Andrews merchandise, Jeff Bezos getting launched into space, Khloe Kardashian stealing Lisa Wilkinson‘s Instagram photo of fruit, and now Adam Levine has created a song for *checks notes* Paw Patrol.
Yes, you read that right. Maroon 5’s lead daddy Adam Levine has released a song called ‘Good Mood’, which is basically the Paw Patrol version of Despical Me‘s ‘Happy’ by Pharrel Williams. Except, not nearly as iconic.
The song itself is fine. I mean, it’s what you’d expect for the credit song of a children’s movie. It’s fun, it’s poppy, it’ll probably end up in one of the Spotify summer playlists I have playing mindlessly in the background. I couldn’t really tell you much about it. It sounds exactly like what you think it sounds like.

Even more bizarre though, is the fact that this movie actually has a killer cast??? Kim Kardashian is in it, for some reason. And so are Dax Shepard, Tyler Perry and Jimmy Kimmel. Which to me is just a very strange mix of people.
My favourite part of this whole fever dream though, is that Paw Patrol has a music video for the song, which is just… so reminiscent of 2010 Tumblr fandom edits of Disney characters, I cannot.
For those of you who were on Tumblr during its peak cringe fandom days, get ready for war flashbacks. For those who weren’t, my apologies for what I am about to describe.
Basically, there was a time (circa 2010-2014ish) where people were obsessed with making badly photoshopped edits of Disney characters like Rapunzel, Hiccup from How To Train Your Dragon, Jack Frost from Rise Of The Guardians, and of course, Elsa, in romantic relationships. They would edit the characters into montages, usually with some romantic song in the background and a bunch of meaningful lyrics over the top. Seriously, look up ‘Jack Frost and Rapunzel’ on YouTube.
Anyway, this Paw Patrol music video is so reminiscent of those videos that it was like a repressed memory was unlocked. And now I can’t unsee it. You can have a look for yourself below.
