Last season, there was very little the wide receiver unit could do to help the Pittsburgh Steelers. Unfortunately, their success is predicated heavily on the play at quarterback and things were shaky there for the entire season. But the return of Ben Roethlisberger this season promises a bounceback for the wide receivers as well.
Here are our early stat projections for the Steelers in 2020.
JuJu Smith-Schuster
Smith-Schuster gets back on track in 2020 but still falls short of his 2018 mark. Look for Smith-Schuster in the slot much more this season.
78 receptions, 1,053 receiving yards, 8 receiving touchdowns
Diontae Johnson

Steady improvement from Johnson in his second season but don’t look for a huge breakout with a crowded offense.
65 receptions 806 receiving yards, 6 receiving touchdowns
James Washington

Washington remains the team’s best deep threat and shows it with an impressive 16.9 yards per catch in 2020.
58 receptions 980 receiving yards, 5 receiving touchdowns
Chase Claypool

The rookie Claypool takes advantage of limited opportunities and shows he’s the future for the Steelers.
