The 2020 NFL trade deadline is on Tuesday, and there are question marks surrounding just how active the Tennessee Titans will be.
One player Bleacher Report’s Mike Freeman sees a possibility of the team trading is running back Derrick Henry.
He listed the chances of it happening at 25 percent.
“Another situation where a franchise could get good picks and rebuild an offense that is in dire trouble,” he wrote. “However, I’m hearing the Titans are hesitant to trade Henry because they think he can be a good centerpiece of the offense in the future. We’ll see how long that theory lasts.”
So far this season, Henry totals 135 carries for 506 yards and five touchdowns. On a four-season career spent entirely with the Titans, Henry has racked up 636 carries for 2,799 yards and 27 touchdowns.
Last season, Henry started slow, playing second-fiddle to former New England Patriots rusher Dion Lewis. He surpassed him at the end of the season, though, recording a total of 215 carries for 1,059 yards and 12 touchdowns.
He also had a historic performance in the team’s second meeting of the year with the Jacksonville Jaguars, carrying 17 times for 238 yards and four touchdowns, also tying the record for the longest touchdown run with a 99-yarder.
When given the opportunity, Henry is a crucial part of the offense, and remains at the heart of the ground game.
With the deadline looming near, it will be curious to see if the team makes the move to send him elsewhere.
