2020 NFL Pro Bowl: Which Texans should be selected

The 2020 NFL Pro Bowl rosters will be announced Tuesday night at 7:00 p.m. CT on NFL Network. With the Houston Texans sitting at 9-5, first place in the AFC South, and a win away from clinching the division, they have a few players worthy of making the all-star lineup.

Nobody does it better, except maybe New Orleans Saints receiver Michael Thomas. Hopkins has the second-most catches in the league with 99, sixth-most yards with 1,142, and the second-most first downs with 67. The two-time All-Pro has produced five games with 100-plus receiving yards.

The Texans would be battling with the Jacksonville Jaguars for last place in the division if not for Watson. The former 2017 first-round pick from Clemson continues to elevate the franchise to new heights. His touchdown passes are tied with Dak Prescott and Jimmy Garoppolo for the fourth-most in the NFL. Lamar Jackson is outplaying Watson this year, but that is about it. When factoring in wins and the fact Houston is on the cusp of making the playoffs, there’s hardly anyone better than Watson. The one stat where Patrick Mahomes is better than Watson is passer rating: 106.2 to 100.4. Other than that, Watson is second to Jackson, which means he ought to earn a Pro Bowl spot.

If Lamar Miller could make it last year without breaking the 1,000-yard rushing mark and missing two games, then Hyde for sure is worthy of making the Pro Bowl given he has played every game and broken the 1,000-yard mark. However, the AFC has an abundance of high performing running backs this season with Nick Chubb, Derrick Henry, Josh Jacobs, and Leonard Fournette, all four of whom have more rushing yards than Hyde. Those four also aren’t going to be playing on Super Bowl Sunday. Someone who could be is Ravens running back Mark Ingram, who has 10 rushing touchdowns on the year and is 37 yards away from the 1,000-yard mark.
