2020 NFL draft will proceed as scheduled, but public events canceled

The 2020 NFL draft will not be postponed due to the spread of the coronavirus. According to Mike Garafolo at NFL Network, the draft will still take place from April 23-25 in Las Vegas as originally scheduled. However, any public events coinciding with the draft have been canceled.

The CDC has recommended that no gatherings of 50 or more people take place for at least the next eight weeks, which makes canceling these events a no-brainer.

However, business is continuing mostly as usual for the NFL. The new league year begins on Wednesday and 11 players have been hit with a franchise or exclusive tag already.

As for the Panthers, they’re going in with seven draft picks. Given the number of roster holes they have to fill, it makes a lot of sense to trade down. Anything is possible though and it wouldn’t come as a shock if they move up for a new franchise quarterback. Our latest seven-round mock has Carolina trading up with Detroit to get Tua Tagovailoa.
