2020 NFL draft: Why EDGE Khalid Kareem is good fit for Seahawks

The Seattle Seahawks’ offseason hinges on whether or not star defensive end Jadeveon Clowney is re-signed However, regardless of whether he comes back or not, the team is expected to pursue more pass rushers via the NFL draft.

Yetur Gross-Matos is the most commonly mocked player to the Seahawks in the first round, and for good reason, but this team could also try to find some pass rushing depth in the later rounds as well.

One option for them to pursue is Notre Dame defensive end Khalid Kareem.

Kareem is expected to get selected in the middle to late rounds, and while he doesn’t have a ton of burst off the edge, he has length and power and looks like a prototypical big 4-3 base defensive end – much like Seattle’s recently departed Quinton Jefferson.

Kareem has a lot of the traits the Seahawks covet in defensive ends, and while his power rush won’t be as effective against NFL tackles, his ability to stop the run and his overall length make him a nice project for an NFL team to take a chance on in the later rounds – and one the Seahawks should strongly consider if he falls to them.
