The AFC East took more shape this past weekend following the NFL draft. Now, the Patriots remain the only team in the division that does not have a clearcut picture at the quarterback position. New England elected to ignore that position this past weekend, while Miami made Alabama’s Tua Tagovailoa the fifth overall pick.
The Jets stayed at No. 11, selecting a franchise left tackle in Mekhi Becton. As usual, the Patriots elected to trade back in the first round, acquiring picks Nos. 37 and 71 from the Los Angeles Chargers in exchange for the team’s first-round selection at No. 23. As for the Bills, they parted ways with their 2020 first-round pick earlier this offseason when they acquired Stefon Diggs from Minnesota.
New York had no qualms making deals with the division. The Jets had acquired a third-round pick from Seattle in order to move down 11 spots in the second round. Instead of making a selection with the 101st pick, Joe Douglas dealt it to New England in exchange for picks Nos. 125, 129 and a 2021 sixth-round choice.
With that said, let’s recap what all the teams in the AFC East did over the weekend.
