2020 NFL Draft to take place in virtual format

It’s official.

NFL owners, general managers, coaches will not be allowed in the same room for the upcoming draft.

Commissioner Roger Goodell sent a memo to all 32 teams on Monday, informing them that they must draft away from the team’s facilities and operate from their own homes in order to comply with the coronavirus guidelines.

“We have reviewed this matter in the past few days with both the Competition Committee and CEC,” the memo said. “And this will confirm that clubs will conduct their draft operations remotely, with club personnel separately located in their homes.”

Coaches and general managers are expected to communicate with each other by phone or Internet.

Originally, the draft was supposed to take place in Las Vegas, but the NFL announced on March 16 that all public draft-related events were off because of the worldwide crisis.
