2020 NFL Draft: Tight End rankings from Draft Wire

The Indianapolis Colts have plenty of areas to address this offseason through free agency and the upcoming 2020 NFL draft. One of their most underrated needs comes at the tight end position.

While it isn’t a need in the sense like the quarterback or wide receiver positions are, the Colts are likely looking to add another piece to the tight end room, especially with Eric Ebron on the way out.

There aren’t a whole lot of options for the Colts in free agency, unless they want to splurge on Hunter Henry if he hits the market. That means the Colts are likely looking to the draft to add to the room.

Our friends over at Draft Wire published their tight end rankings for the upcoming draft. Here’s a look at the top 10:

  1. Cole Kmet, Notre Dame
  2. Hunter Bryant, Washington
  3. Brycen Hopkins, Purdue
  4. Taddeus Moss, LSU
  5. Harrison Bryant, FAU
  6. Adam Trautman, Dayton
  7. Albert Okwuegbunam, Missouri
  8. Colby Parkinson, Stanford
  9. Stephen Sullivan, LSU
  10. Jacob Breeland, Oregon

The Colts have a solid tight end room but one that still needs some work. Veteran leader Jack Doyle signed a three-year extension this offseason while Mo Alie-Cox is currently the No. 2 behind him. He’s promising but still a work in progress and has only truly been used as a blocker.

There are few options for the Colts. Hopkins is an intriguing talent for Indy and one that they could target in the second round, perhaps with the No. 44 overall pick.

If they wanted more of a dynamic threat, the Colts could look at a player like Bryant or Parkinson.

The room has a lot of promising talent but there will need to be some additions during the draft. It is unlikely they do so early in the draft, which means they could be looking to add one in the mid-rounds.
