Dixon a late round steal?
San Diego State has a history of offensive lineman performing well and helping keep quarterbacks upright and creating space for running backs to go through. Daishawn Dixon is one who could be taken late in the draft.
He was a second-team All-Mountain selection this past year
Strengths
He is a three-year starter and played in all 14 games as a freshman and without injury. That type of sustainability is what NFL scouts want with players who not only play at a high level but also without injuries.
Dixon helped lead one of the most consistent running games in the country during his time, with the exception of 2020. He also has great technique and good quickness for a guard. He also has the perfect size at 6-foot-5 and 320 pounds, plus his wingspan outlasts his height at 81 inches.
Weaknesses
The concern for him is that the running game took a steep drop off in 2019 but some of that has to do with the offense going away from no center and going to more shotgun despite still being a pro-style offense.
He could use a bit more speed and quickness off the line of scrimmage because being even a hair slow can be a make or break situation on each and every play.
Draft projection
Dixon could possibly sneak in at the end of the draft and the best-case scenario is a late sixth-round pick
