The 2020 NFL Draft kicked remotely across the country with the first round Thursday night. It was a lengthy affair of more than four hours as the teams got through their 32 picks over the internet.
Television coverage of the draft was done out of ESPN’s studios in Bristol, Connecticut, with commissioner Roger Goodell announcing picks from his New York home. For the most part, it was a smooth process.
The real intrigue started with the No. 3 overall pick after the Bengals and Redskins used the top two picks on LSU quarterback Joe Burrow and Ohio State pass rusher Chase Young, respectively. Detroit opted for Young’s teammate, Jeff Okuduh, the draft’s top-rated cornerback.
One big surprise came with the 26th overall pick when the Packers traded up to select Utah State quarterback Jordan Love, who could be the long-term replacement for Aaron Rodgers. Bears fans will surely be monitoring that QB situation in Green Bay going forward.
