2020 NFL Draft prospects with family ties to Kansas City Chiefs

The Kansas City Chiefs franchise has some of the strongest roots in NFL history. This draft class remains a good representation of that, as several players in this class hold distinct family ties to the Chiefs organization.

Here’s a look at each of those players and their connection to Kansas City:

North Carolina OT Charlie Heck

Heck is the son of current Chiefs offensive line coach Andy Heck. Here is what Chiefs PR wrote about Heck in their 2020 NFL Draft Guide:

Chiefs Offensive Line Coach Andy Heck’s son is 2020 NFL Draft prospect OL Charlie Heck out of North Carolina. In 2019, Charlie earned second-team All-ACC honors after starting all 12 games at left tackle as a senior. He attended the 2020 NFL Combine. Andy was drafted 15th overall in the 1989 NFL Draft by the Seattle Seahawks and went on to play 12 NFL seasons.”

We spoke to Heck at the 2020 NFL Scouting Combine, he was super excited about his father finally winning a Super Bowl and spoke on the possibility of playing for his dad at some point in his career.

Temple CB Harrison Hand

Hand is the cousin of former Chiefs DL Turk McBride, who played with the Chiefs from 2007-2009. Hand is considered to be a Day 3 draft pick and is a good option for the Chiefs in the late rounds.

Tennessee DB Nigel Warrior and Georgia DB J.R. Reed

Warrior and Reed are cousins and related to former Chiefs CB Dale Carter, who was the Chiefs’ first-round pick in the 1992 NFL Draft. Warrior is Carter’s son and Reed is Carter’s nephew. Reed is expected to be a Day 2 or Day 3 pick in the draft, while Warrior is projected to be a priority free agent. Carter won the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year award in 1992.
