2020 NFL draft order: Broncos would select 9th overall if season ended today

If the 2019 season ended today, the Denver Broncos would have a top-10 selection in the 2020 NFL draft. The season is only halfway over so it’s a little too early to predict where teams will pick, but it’s still interesting to track the 2020 draft order on a week-to-week basis.

This week, the Broncos are on pace for the 9th overall pick.

Here’s the current order for the top 10 picks, courtesy of NFL.com:

  1. Cincinnati Bengals (0-8)
  2. Washington Redskins (1-8)
  3. Miami Dolphins (1-7)
  4. New York Jets (1-7)
  5. Atlanta Falcons (1-7)
  6. New York Giants (2-7)
  7. Cleveland Browns (2-6)
  8. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2-6)
  9. Denver Broncos (3-6)
  10. Oakland Raiders (via Chicago Bears, 3-5)

Denver had the 10th overall pick in last year’s draft and traded down, landing tight end Noah Fant in the first round. Two years ago, the Broncos selected outside linebacker Bradley Chubb with the fifth overall pick.

Denver landed quarterback Drew Lock in the second round of April’s draft but that might not stop general manager John Elway from selecting another QB in 2020. Lock’s performance at the end of the season (assuming he gets a chance to play) could help the team make a decision about which position to target in the first round of next year’s draft.
