2020 NFL Draft: Joe Burrow completes journey from Ohio State backup No. 1 overall pick

The Cincinnati Bengals have drafted former Ohio State quarterback Joe Burrow, who finished his career with the LSU Tigers, No. 1 overall. Burrow played for the Buckeyes from 2015-2017.

As a graduate transfer, he landed at a high-profile place to be the starting quarterback, and no one held that against him. As a matter of fact, Buckeye Nation still has a ton of love for the superstar quarterback. They still consider him one of their own. Heck, he does have a degree from OSU.

From a lesser-known high school in Athens, Ohio, Burrow made the big-time transition to one of the NCAA’s top programs. Now, he’s back in the Buckeye state.

Burrow was projected to be the draft’s top-overall selection after throwing 60 touchdowns during his fifth collegiate season. While winning the Heisman in a landslide, he showed leadership on the way to a national championship for LSU, even further proving his case.

Standing 6-foot, 4-inches, Burrow is a capable athlete as well. Combine his physical ability with his over 75% completion percentage in his final season, and there’s no doubt Burrow is the most NFL-ready quarterback in the draft.

Ohio State Football fans should be rooting for LSU in CFP Championship

The Bengals got a winner, and this was exactly how it was expected to go all along. While they weren’t in dire need of a quarterback, they view Burrow as an upgrade to Andy Dalton, and the next superstar in the league.

He’s good, and he’s shown signs of greatness, but whether he can that transition to the next level will be the biggest question for Burrow as he’ll soon be saddled with elevating a Bengal franchise thirsting for success.
