When it comes to scouting the top NFL draft needs of the Pittsburgh Steelers, there are several positions can agree on. A pass rusher if Bud Dupree leaves or a defensive tackle in place of Javon Hargrave makes sense. As does a tight end or guard depending on how the Steelers work to slash the salary cap. But what could some curveballs be in the second round? Here are four.
QB Jacob Eason, Washington
When the dust settles on the first round you could see three quarterbacks off the board. But once this happens, there could be something of a dip into the second round. If former Washington star Jacob Eason is on the board with Pittsburgh picks, he would be hard to pass up regardless of need.
CB Noah Igbinoghene, Auburn

The Steelers have made no secret of their desire to draft a cornerback this year. Igbinoghene has huge upside as a starting boundary cornerback after moving over from wide receiver two seasons ago.
WR Denzel Mimis, Baylor

If the Steelers spend a draft pick on a wide receiver it has to be a speed guy who can pull the top off a defense. Mims is a long strider at 6-foot-3 but can burn it up in the open field. He ran an impressive 4.38 40-yard dash at the combine and certainly helped his draft stock.
RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire, LSU

Like cornerback, the Steelers haven’t been shy about their level of interest in adding talent at running back. Edwards-Helaire isn’t the biggest or fastest back in the draft but is still a bruising back who uses great patience and impressive balance to make up for nifty footwork.
