New York Giants general manager Dave Gettleman, on the hot seat in 2020, addressed the media at the NFL Combine in Indianapolis on Tuesday morning.
Here are some takeaways from his presser.

The Giants are open for business
The Giants hold the No. 4 selection in the draft and will entertain all comers for the pick, but warned that sometimes trading back can backfire. Of course, Dave Gettleman wouldn’t really know since he’s never done it in his seven drafts as a general manager.

Gettleman likes the draft class
With so many needs on the roster, Gettleman could really do his team a service in this draft. He likes the field in front of him but keep in mind, he’s lacking a third-round pick (pending comp picks) due to the Leonard Williams trade.

Speaking of Williams, Gettleman is all in
Losing Leonard Williams in free agency would be a disaster of sorts. Gettleman knows he must sign Williams to justify the trade, even if it means applying the franchise tag on him.

LT Nate Solder isn’t guaranteed anything
It’s no mystery the Giants want to replace Nate Solder at left tackle, and Gettleman did not commit to the veteran as the team’s starter.

Daniel Jones is the team’s franchise quarterback
Not quite breaking news but with a new head coach and staff sometimes the transition isn’t as seamless when it comes to a young quarterback. Gettleman is making it clear that Jones is their man.

Offensive line is on Gettleman’s mind
As it should be. They are pretty much committed to Kevin Zeitler and Will Hernandez at guard, but are in the market to upgrade at center and tackle.

The Giants are evaluating quarterbacks
Yes, it’s true, the Giants are looking for a backup but are doing their due diligence with this quarterback class although they are unlikely to select one in the high rounds.

Gettleman believes he can get a “gold jacket” player at No. 4
By ‘gold jacket’ he means a Hall of Fame-caliber talent like he believes he got two years ago in Saquon Barkley.
