2020 draft: Thunder reportedly interview Stanford guard Tyrell Terry

The Oklahoma City Thunder are showing interest in at least one point guard projected to go near the end of the first round in the 2020 NBA Draft.

Oklahoma City interviewed Stanford point guard Tyrell Terry, the 6-foot-2, 160-pound athlete said, according to Rylan Stiles of the Daily Thunder.

Terry is best known for his shooting and his basketball IQ.

Rookie Wire reported that Terry “broke a record” in a basketball IQ test that was administered by some NBA front offices over summer.

He shot 40.% from behind the arc and 50.8% on catch-and-shoots from 3.

Overall, he averaged 14.6 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 1.4 steals in 31 games.

Terry looked up to Thunder point guard Chris Paul growing up, Stiles tweeted.

Last season, Stanford went 20-12 (9-9 Pac-12). Terry was a key piece with his shooting and passing ability, and he has reportedly added 20 pounds of muscle and grown a little bit, according to Celtics Wire.

Terry would provide the Thunder with yet another guard who can play the 1 or the 2 positions. If he is selected, that would give Oklahoma City some insurance at the position should the organization away Paul or Dennis Schroder — or both.

Oklahoma City has the 25th pick in the draft. Other point guards who may be available around that time include R.J. Hampton, Theo Maledon, Nico Mannion and Tre Jones.

Teams can start to meet with prospects in-person in mid-October.
