2019 Texans fantasy football outlook: RB D’Onta Foreman

Running back is a question for the Houston Texans going into the 2019 season. Yes, Lamar Miller is slated to start the season, but former Texas running back D’Onta Foreman flashed in his rookie season and is looking to rebound in 2019, his third season in the NFL.

In 2018, Foreman only played in two games after tearing his Achilles in 2017. Foreman was focusing on recovering from his injury and not rushing back and being detrimental to the team. When he got back, coach Bill O’Brien claimed the roles were already defined. In any event, Foreman should be fresh and ready to start the 2019 campaign strong by participating in offseason workouts.

The former third-rounder from Texas has all the tools to upset Miller as the Texans starter, and most likely will at some point. Foreman, unlike Miller, has excellent vision and has a better understanding of where to run and is a bruiser of a back. Miller, on the other hand, liked to “dance” side to side too much; therefore, allowing the timing of hitting his gap close.

Foreman puts his head down and powers through and has excellent speed after hitting the hole. With 327 rushing yards in 2017 and two touchdowns, while averaging 4.2 yards a game, this is why Foreman should be at least looked at in all aspects of fantasy football. He may not be a household name quite yet as he is in Houston, but by the end of the 2019 season, Foreman will most likely be a name you hear and could very well be the Texans starter in 2020.
