– Unlike the Conference USA Preseason Team Rankings, these are all based on predicted finishes. Who gets to play UTEP and Rice from the West? Who has to deal with the Southern Miss defense or the North Texas offense? Schedules mean everything.
– The FIU vs. Florida Atlantic showdown in Boca Raton on November 9th should mean just about everything. Marshall will be a major factor, but it has to go to FAU and the date at Middle Tennessee will be a key part of the puzzle.
– Southern Miss and North Texas should be the stars in the West. Florida Atlantic has to go to USM to close out the regular season, but FIU and Marshall miss them both.

– The schedules are what the rankings are about, unlike the Conference USA Preseason Team Rankings, which are based on how good the teams are. In the West, since UAB is undergoing a rebuild and an overhaul, the spotlight will be North Texas and Southern Miss to be the stars. In the East, FIU and Florida Atlantic should be the biggest deals, and UNT and USM both miss the Golden Panthers, and the Golden Eagles play the Owls.
– North Texas and Southern Miss each have a week off before facing each other, and the game is at USM. And if UAB is still UAB after the rebuild? The Blazers have to go to Denton and Hattiesburg.
– Louisiana Tech has sleeper potential to come up with a must stronger season, especially considering it gets both North Texas and Southern Miss at home. The problem? The Bulldogs have to go to UAB and Marshall, and they face FIU.
