2019 Players Championship Final Round Recap: McIlroy wins it at 16-under

After his birdie on No. 16 at TPC Sawgrass, Rory McIlroy took sole possession of the lead in the Players Championship and never looked back.

The 29-year-old from Northern Ireland finished 16-under 272 after recording a final round 70. McIlroy totaled six birdies, two bogeys and a double bogey at the fourth hole on Sunday afternoon.

One stroke behind McIlroy, Jim Furyk finished Sunday with a 67. Furyk, 5-under in the final round, walked off the course with the lead after a birdie on No. 18. The 48-year-old finished with an eagle, five birdies and two bogeys.

Eddie Pepperell and Jhonattan Vegas each shot a 66 to finish T3 at 14-under.

Tiger Woods kept things interesting to begin the final round, recording three birdies on the front nine and another on No. 11. Woods had one bogey Sunday on No. 14. He finished the final round 3-under 69, 6-under for the tournament.
