2019 NFL Trade Deadline: how the Titans can trade for Redskins OG Brandon Scherff

The Tennessee Titans have faced their fair share of problems in 2019.

Play-calling has been questionable at times, injures have caused problems and inconsistent play from a number of positions – especially quarterback – have been a factor.

But the most glaring problem the Titans face is the interior of the offensive line. Offensive guard Roger Saffold has been inconsistent has had some solid plays this season, but has also had plays where defenders have skated right past him. On the right side, Nate Davis and Jamil Douglas has struggled and are two of the weakest links there.

The Washington Redskins are a team the Titans may call on to help solve this problem. Two-time Pro Bowl guard Brandon Scherff is on the final year of his rookie contract.

The trade deadline is on Tuesday the 29th, less than a week away. So, if a move is going to be made, it will have to come quickly.

The problem is that the Redskins already have a quarterback of the future and a projected early 2020 NFL Draft pick. The team isn’t exactly in dire need for draft picks, and probably wouldn’t have any interest in adding Mariota.

The Redskins also have a fairly young roster and a weak offensive line that needs leaders.

The Titans, on the other hand, will likely be looking to trade up in the 2020 NFL draft for a quarterback, and will need all the draft capital they can get to make the move.

The Titans could potentially try to send offensive lineman Dennis Kelly, cornerback LeShaun Sims and a late-round pick for Scherff.

The Redskins would have two needs filled — one along the offensive line, and the other within a weak secondary, along with an extra pick.

The Titans could slide Scherff into a guard position, use Pamphile in the swing tackle role Kelly held and still have enough draft capital to move up for a quarterback next year.

It will be interesting to see which moves the Titans make ahead of the deadline.
