2019 NFL mock draft: You make the pick, Detroit Lions at No. 8

It’s time to fan-source a 2019 NFL mock draft.

Let’s keep things rolling with the Detroit Lions at No. 8 overall.

Here’s the board so far:

1. Arizona Cardinals | Kyler Murray | QB | Oklahoma

2. San Francisco 49ers | Nick Bosa | EDGE | Ohio State

3. New York Jets | Josh Allen | EDGE | Kentucky

4. Oakland Raiders | Quinnen Williams | DL | Alabama

5. Tampa Bay Buccaneers | Devin White | LB | LSU

6. New York Giants | Dwayne Haskins | QB | Ohio State

7. Jacksonville Jaguars | T.J. Hockenson | TE | Iowa

There are many different ways the Lions could go here, but my money would be on a defensive player. It’s possible they could opt for a playmaker like Ole Miss wide receiver D.K. Metcalf to replace Golden Tate, or perhaps make it back-to-back Iowa tight ends with Noah Fant.

If the Lions do prefer the defensive route, there’s no shortage of talent available, particularly along the front seven. Explosive, versatile edge rushers like Mississippi State’s Montez Sweat and Florida State’s Brian Burns would be ideal picks here, but the versatility and rare athleticism of Houston defensive lineman Ed Oliver might be too much for a defensive coach like Matt Patricia to pass up.

You make the pick.
