It’s officially crazy season, as the 2019 NFL draft is just three weeks away.
So let’s get crazy.
For this week’s updated four-round mock draft, let’s see what would happen if the Oakland Raiders turned this year’s draft upside down with a blockbuster trade at No. 1 overall, continuing their changing of the guard across the board.
1. Oakland Raiders (from ARI)* | Kyler Murray | QB | Oklahoma
When Jon Gruden and Mike Mayock are calling the shots, nothing should ever come as a shock. Even trading No. 27 and No. 35 overall to move up to this year’s top spot for a new franchise quarterback.
2. San Francisco 49ers | Nick Bosa | EDGE | Ohio State
John Lynch and company have to be pulling for Murray to go No. 1, because that would leave the draft’s best player on the board, at their biggest position of need. Bosa would be a steal here.
3. New York Jets | Josh Allen | EDGE | Kentucky
After losing out on Anthony Barr in free agency, the Jets are still in desperate need of an impact edge defender. Allen is one of the most complete, versatile prospects in this year’s draft, and would be the perfect fit.
4. Arizona Cardinals (from OAK)* | Quinnen Williams | DL | Alabama
If the Cardinals are indeed sticking with Josh Rosen at quarterback, this is the ideal scenario. They move back just three spots, get to more premium picks to restock a weak roster, and still land arguably the best overall prospect in the draft.
5. Cincinnati Bengals (from TB)* | Dwayne Haskins | QB | Ohio State
Any team that needs a quarterback should be looking at this spot to trade up. Here, the Bengals deal at least their second-round and third-round picks this year to replace Andy Dalton with an in-state star who has a much higher ceiling.
6. New York Giants | Montez Sweat | EDGE | Mississippi State
If the Giants are indeed rolling with Eli Manning for another year or more, this draft needs to be about stocking the rest of the roster with as much young talent as possible. Expect the trenches to come first, and a rare athlete like Sweat won’t last long.
7. Jacksonville Jaguars | D.K. Metcalf | WR | Ole Miss
Now that Nick Foles is clearly the team’s franchise quarterback, the Jags need to surround him with as much help as possible, whether that’s up front or in terms of weapons. In this situation, teaming him up with a big, fast pass-catcher like Metcalf would be ideal.
8. Detroit Lions | Brian Burns | EDGE | Florida State
Sure, the Lions just inked free agent Trey Flowers to a massive deal, but that shouldn’t keep them from adding another explosive pass rusher here. Burns proved at the combine he could add weight and still retain his athleticism, and his technique sets him apart from a deep class of edge rushers.
9. Washington Redskins (from BUF)* | Drew Lock | QB | Missouri
What, you’re not excited about a quarterback battle between Case Keenum and Colt McCoy? Didn’t think so. With Alex Smith’s future in doubt, Washington should be poised to make a jump like this (in return for a second-round pick) for the right passer, and Lock could be their man if he’s still on the board.
10. Denver Broncos | Devin White | LB | LSU
Quarterback is off the board here, but the Broncos still have some fantastic options at other positions of need in this scenario. After backing up his strong tape against SEC competition with a dominant performance at the combine, White is well worth a top-10 selection.

11. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (from CIN)* | Ed Oliver | DL | Houston
It’s no secret Gerald McCoy’s future appears to be in question, and this draft is the perfect chance for the Bucs to find an elite prospect to replace him. After moving back six spots and adding multiple premium picks, the Bucs still manage to land one of this year’s top overall prospects in Oliver.
12. Green Bay Packers | T.J. Hockenson | TE | Iowa
Free agency gave the Packers an opportunity to fill some of their biggest needs on defense, and they took full advantage by adding some of this year’s best available veterans. That should free them up to use this pick on a dynamic weapon for Aaron Rodgers, and Hockenson has all the tools to be an elite playmaker.
13. Miami Dolphins | Christian Wilkins | DL | Clemson
It sure looks like the Dolphins are prepared to punt on this year’s quarterback class, and if that’s the case, they should be targeting the best defensive lineman available here. In this scenario, a rare and dynamic athlete like Wilkins would be a perfect fit.
14. Atlanta Falcons | Rashan Gary | DL | Michigan
Any other year, a rare talent like Gary would likely be a top-10 lock, but this year’s defensive line class is loaded. Though injuries, inconsistency and playing somewhat out of position held back Gary at Michigan, Dan Quinn and company should be able to maximize his gifts.
15. Buffalo Bills (from WAS)* | Jawaan Taylor | OT | Florida
Helping Josh Allen has to be the focus of this draft, and while free agency has added some solid pieces to the offensive line and receiver group, they could still use a stud for each. Here they give Allen the top tackle in the draft, who can play either side, and add an extra pick in the process.
16. Carolina Panthers | Clelin Ferrell | EDGE | Clemson
This pick could go a million different ways, but the Panthers would be smart to try and replace 17-year veteran Julius Peppers on the edge. Ferrell may not have Peppers’ rare athleticism, but his size, length and technique should still make him an effective pass rusher at the next level.
17. New York Giants | Jonah Williams | OT | Alabama
After shoring up the defensive line with their first pick, the Giants use the one of the picks they received for Odell Beckham, Jr. to improve Eli Manning’s protection. Williams may not have some of the physical traits NFL teams want in a left tackle, but he’s still a beast of a blocker.
18. Minnesota Vikings | Cody Ford | OT | Oklahoma
Restocking the offensive line has to be the Vikings’ top priority in this draft, whether at tackle or along the interior. In this scenario, they get a versatile blocker in Ford who can play guard or tackle, with the power and athleticism to start from Day 1.
19. Tennessee Titans | Garrett Bradbury | OL | North Carolina State
While some may consider this early for an interior offensive lineman, last year’s draft (Quenton Nelson at No. 6) proved top prospects are top prospects, regardless of position. Bradbury is a complete player with a fantastic combination of athleticism, power and physicality.
20. Pittsburgh Steelers | Devin Bush | LB | Michigan
If Bush gets anywhere near this pick, the Steelers should be looking to move up a few spots just to make sure they get him. Landing him without trading up would be a huge win for a team that still misses Ryan Shazier terribly.

21. New England Patriots (from SEA)* | Noah Fant | TE | Iowa
Rob Gronkowski’s retirement leaves the Pats needing a weapon to replace him. Fant is the most athletic playmaker in this year’s tight end class, and well worth giving up a second-round pick and a third-round pick, especially since New England has more than one selection in each of those rounds.
22. Baltimore Ravens | Hakeem Butler | WR | Iowa State
Lamar Jackson already has a solid stable of tight ends and a new running back in Mark Ingram, but he desperately needs a true No. 1 receiver. With his rare combination of size, speed and athleticism, Butler is exactly what Jackson needs to take his game to the next level.
23. Houston Texans | Andre Dillard | OT | Washington State
The Texans have one of the league’s best young quarterbacks in Deshaun Watson, and plenty of weapons at his disposal, but their porous offensive line keeps them from maximizing their skill-position talent. Dillard has all the tools to be a quality starter at left tackle from Day 1, and an immediate upgrade for Houston.
24. Oakland Raiders (from CHI) | Greedy Williams | CB | LSU
After making a bold trade at the top of the draft for a franchise quarterback, the Raiders have to land a stud here at one of their big need positions on defense. In this situation, the best value comes at corner, where they land a raw but promising cover man with speed and length.
25. Philadelphia Eagles | Byron Murphy | CB | Washington
The Eagles have bigger needs than corner, but passing up a complete player like Murphy would be difficult. While he lacks the elite physical tools of other corners in this class, Murphy’s instincts, intelligence and ball skills set him apart.
26. Indianapolis Colts | Jerry Tillery | DL | Notre Dame
The Colts could go in many different directions here, but the value and fit are perfect with this selection. Tillery has a rare combination of size, length and versatility that makes him a dominant force regardless of where he lines up along the defensive line.
27. Arizona Cardinals (from DAL via OAK | Dalton Risner | OT | Kansas State
After making a huge trade and still getting a stud defender at No. 4, the Cardinals now have to surround Rosen with more offensive talent. That starts with improving his protection, and getting a versatile, complete blocker like Risner would be ideal here.
28. Los Angeles Chargers | Rock Ya-Sin | CB | Temple
Corner isn’t the Bolts’ biggest need, but the value just isn’t there at tackle or defensive line in this scenario. That’s why they opt for another talented cover man to add to an already scary secondary, getting one of this year’s fastest-rising names.
29. Kansas City Chiefs | Marquise Brown | WR | Oklahoma
Sure, the Chiefs have bigger needs on defense, but that won’t stop them from giving Patrick Mahomes as many weapons as possible. After filling more pressing needs with veteran free agents, the Chiefs can splurge with an undersized but explosive playmaker in Brown.
30. Green Bay Packers | Mack Wilson | LB | Alabama
After getting their tight end earlier in the first round, and filling their other defensive needs in free agency, the Packers can use this pick to address the linebacker spot. Wilson is still a bit raw, but his ceiling is through the roof thanks to top-level physical tools.
31. Denver Broncos (from LAR)* | Daniel Jones | QB | Duke
Passing on a quarterback at No. 10 makes sense in this scenario, but for all of John Elway’s confidence in Joe Flacco being “in his prime,” I doubt he could watch Jones drop so far without pouncing. In return for at least their second-round pick in this draft, the Broncos land their franchise quarterback of the future to learn behind the veteran.
32. Seattle Seahawks (from NE)* | Nasir Adderley | S | Delaware
This is an ideal scenario for the Seahawks, who move back and add extra picks in the range where they’re missing some, and still land a playmaker for the secondary. Adderley isn’t the second coming of Earl Thomas, but his athleticism and versatility give him plenty of upside.
