2019 NFL mock draft: Colts select CB Greedy Williams

There are several ways the Indianapolis Colts can go with their first-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, and the mock drafts are showing just that with the multiple options across different platforms.

In USA TODAY’s latest mock draft conducted by Nate Davis, the Colts invested heavily in the secondary selecting LSU cornerback Greedy Williams at No. 26 overall.

26. Colts — Greedy Williams, CB, LSU: Can’t ever have enough speed or cover guys on your roster, and corner is an area where Indianapolis can improve even with Pierre Desir returning to the fold.

Though a bit light on his frame, Williams has the length and ability to play both in a man or zone defense. The Colts run the latter the majority of the time, but they do implement some man looks, especially on third down.

Williams would be a nice addition to the secondary. His 4.37 in the 40-yard dash shows he has desired top-end speed to work the boundary, but he does carry concerns in his tackling and ability to help in run support, which is an underrated aspect of Matt Eberflus’ defense.

It remains to be seen how the Colts will go about their draft selections, but adding to the secondary is certainly in the cards for general manager Chris Ballard.
