2019 NFL mock draft: Colts grab studs early in 4-round mock

With NFL combine having come and gone, the league will focus on free agency coming up next week, but the Indianapolis Colts will also keep their eyes on the 2019 NFL Draft in April.

Mock drafts are flying everywhere as draft season is in full effect. Our friends over at Draft Wire conducted a four-round post-combine mock draft, which saw the Colts take some studs early.

Here’s a look at the picks for the Colts in Draft Wire’s latest mock:

  • No. 26 – Jerry Tillery – DL – Notre Dame
  • No. 34 – Kelvin Harmon – WR – NC State
  • No. 59 – Julian Love – CB – Notre Dame
  • No. 89 – Amani Hooker – S – Iowa
  • No. 129 – Shareef Miller – EDGE – Penn State
  • No. 135 – Kendall Joseph – LB – Clemson

With Tillery, the Colts grab a stout and versatile piece to move along the interior defensive line. He would likely compete for snaps immediately working from both the three-technique and the nose/shade.

Harmon might not have blown the combine out of the water, but he’s still the most complete wide receiver in the draft. He’s one of the few guys Chris Ballard could target early at the position as he’d be a wonderful running mate for T.Y. Hilton.

If the Colts end Day 2 with their first two selections while also adding Love in the secondary, consider it a massive win. A strong fit for the zone scheme, Love would blend in well with what the Colts run schematically under Matt Eberflus.

Needing safety help, the Colts add it in the form of Hooker. His skill set works well with the other Hooker in Malik as Amani could work more underneath as a robber or even as a big nickel safety, which is a package the Colts use often.

Miller would be a developmental edge for the Colts likely getting work as a situational pass rusher. He has good size and traits Indy could work with, but he likely would be more of a depth piece early on.

An extremely productive linebacker in college, Joseph possesses quick processing skills and an ability to close in on his target quickly. He struggles to play with strength but could fill the role as a cover linebacker for the Colts.

What say you Colts fans? What do you think of Draft Wire’s latest mock?
