2019 NFL free agency: what signing DE Cameron Wake means for the Titans

The Tennessee Titans and general manager Jon Robinson have made moves to bring an upgrade to both sides of the ball in 2019.

One of the most recent and effective was the decision to bring Miami Dolphins defensive end Cameron Wake on to the roster.

Wake is expected to sign a three-year, $23 million contract with the Titans. For a 37-year old speed rusher, this is quite the pay day.

The addition of Wake gives the Titans a veteran figure among an otherwise mostly young group of edge defenders. Wake is projected to make a significant impact for the Titans as a situational pass rusher.

Wake has been successful in getting to opposing quarterbacks in recent seasons, posting 38 quarterback hurries last year, per Pro Football Focus. This number tied well-known names like Jadeveon Clowney and Von Miller.

Wake was an integral part of the Dolphins’ defense for a large span of time, and will likely earn a spot in the Ring of Honor when his professional career comes to a conclusion.

In 2018, Wake recorded 36 combined tackles, six sacks and one pass defensed.

On a 10-year career, all seasons spent in Miami, Wake totals 360 combined tackles, 98 sacks, 16 passes defensed and one interception.
