2019 NFL Free Agency: Titans should release RB David Fluellen

With the mid-March free agency period approaching quickly, the Tennessee Titans are expected to part ways with some players currently on the roster.

One name we should expect to see departing from Nashville next month is running back David Fluellen.

Fluellen spent the all but seven games of the 2018 season on Injured Reserve, totaling just 16 yards rushing at the end of the year.

Running backs Derrick Henry and Dion Lewis ultimately did just fine for the Titans’ ground game, with Henry totaling 1,059 yards and Lewis recording 517 yards for a combined total of 1,576 yards rushing.

It’s true that Fluellen has paid his dues by hanging around as a backup for the past three seasons with the Titans, spending a pair of seasons as a member of the team’s practice squad before he eventually earned a spot on the active roster recently.

Even so, his production has been low, as he totals just 37 yards over a three year NFL career. Between this and his lack of action last season due to injury, Fluellen is simply not of value to the Titans anymore.

Expect Jon Robinson to pursue a younger option to add depth at running back during the offseason to replace Fluellen.
