2019 NFL Draft: What final mocks are saying about the Giants

Day 1 of the 2019 NFL Draft has officially arrived, which means experts and analysts are finally ready to put down their pen and see how accurate they were after months and months of speculation, research and projection.

But with mere hours to go, what conclusions have they settled on? More specifically, what are these finalized mocks saying about the New York Giants?

Let’s take a look…

Mel Kiper Jr.

6. New York Giants
Ed Oliver, DT, Houston

No quarterback here, but Oliver would fill a need for the Giants. He could play end in a 3-4 defense.

17. New York Giants (from CLE)
Daniel Jones, QB, Duke

Could Jones fall into GM Dave Gettleman’s lap? I like Jones’ potential, but he should sit and learn for a year behind Eli Manning.

Todd McShay

6. New York Giants
Devin White, ILB, LSU

This defensive unit needs just about everything. And in addition to his great speed, range and instincts, White can be the leader of New York’s rebuilding defense for years to come.

17. New York Giants (from Cleveland)
Drew Lock, QB, Missouri

At last, the Giants get a quarterback. Lock brings a big arm, mobility and the ability to make difficult off-balance throws with ease. Under Eli Manning’s tutelage, Lock and White spark some excitement in the Giants’ rebuild.

Charley Casserly

6. New York Giants
Christian Wilkins, DT, Clemson

The Giants bypass quarterback here and take Wilkins, who’s strong against both the run and the pass. He can play all three DL positions in defensive coordinator James Bettcher’s 3-4 scheme.

17. New York Giants (from Cleveland)
Byron Murphy, CB, Washington

The Giants continue to rebuild their defense by taking an instinctive corner. Could Big Blue trade a second-round pick for Josh Rosen if the Cardinals do in fact take Murray?

Per the usual, there is absolutely no consensus when it comes to the Giants. It was Ohio State quarterback Dwayne Haskins initially, but now he’s become a far less frequent mock of late.
