The Titans selected Mississippi State defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons with the No. 19 overall selection of the 2019 NFL draft.
Simmons’ stock dropped for a couple reasons: When he was in high school, he was arrested for assault. Simmons also tore his ACL while working out in preparation for the pre-draft circuit, setting him back significantly.
Simmons was one of college football’s most disruptive defensive lineman in 2018. He combines natural athletic ability with power, explosiveness and quickness that allows him to penetrate gaps and win one-on-one situations.
Simmons hasn’t even scratched the surface of his potential, and will be a dominant force up front for Tennessee. He will go down as one of the highest risk-highest reward players.
