2019 NFL Draft: Titans could draft a running back on the third day

The Tennessee Titans seem very stable at running back with the late-seasonm comeback performance of rusher Derrick Henry last year and the competition Dion Lewis provided.

The team also has David Fluellen, who was injured last season, in reserve.

Even though it’s not a pressing need, the team could still make use of the upcoming 2019 NFL Draft to add depth at the position. In a recent mailbag post, Titans team reporter Jim Wyatt said he could see the team taking a rusher in the later rounds.

“As for running back, I could see one being drafted third day,” he wrote in response to a fan.

The Titans have particularly shown interest in Memphis running back Darrell Henderson, working him out in March.

The 5-foot-8, 208-pounder totaled 214 carries for 1,909 yards with 22 touchdowns in 2018. Henderson also recorded 19 receptions for 295 yards and three scores.

Over three years with the Tigers, Henderson racked up 431 carries for 3,545 yards with 36 touchdowns. He also had 63 receptions for 758 yards with eight scores.

It will be interesting to see if he – or another rusher – is a part of general manager Jon Robinson and the Titans’ plans after the action officially kicks off on April 25 in Nashville.
