The Seahawks selected TCU edge rusher L.J. Collier with the No. 29 overall selection of the 2019 NFL draft.
Seattle recently shipped Frank Clark to the Chiefs, so the need for a player at the position was there. The selection of Collier came as a bit of surprise since he hadn’t been generating any first round buzz throughout the pre-draft process.
But Collier’s draft stock rose quickly after strong showings in the Reese’s Senior Bowl and NFL combine. He posted 42 tackles, 6 sacks and 4 pass breakups during the 2018 season.
Likely to play the five-technique, Collier fits what coach Pete Carrol looks for in his defensive linemen. He should see a significant snap count in his rookie campaign.
