2019 NFL Draft: Patriots draft Auburn QB Jarrett Stidham in 4th round

The New England Patriots have drafted Auburn quarterback Jarrett Stidham with a fourth-round pick at 133th overall in the 2019 NFL Draft on Saturday.

Stidham is a developmental prospect, but of course, the Tigers product will have high expectations with Tom Brady turning 42 years old before the 2019 season.

As ESPN’s Mel Kiper said on the broadcast on Saturday, “They’ve got to fix him.” Stidham was one of the top recruits coming out of high school, working well as a runner and passer. He’ll be something of a reclamation project for New England. But of course, Brady has no intention fo retiring soon, which should give Stidham ample time to work out kinks.

Stidham, at 6-foot-2 and 218 pounds, started his college career at Baylor before transferring to Auburn. In 13 games in 2018, he completed 60.7% of his passes for 2,794 yards, 18 touchdowns and five interceptions. His touchdown-to-interception ratio was 48:13 in college between his two school and three seasons.

Stidham joins a Patriots’ 2019 class, which includes Arizona State receiver N’Keal Harry, Vanderbilt cornerback Joejuan Williams, Michigan defensive end Chase Winovich, Alabama running back Damien Harris, West Virginia tackle Yodny Cajuste and Arkansas guard Hjalte Froholdt.
