2019 NFL draft: Panthers select EDGE Brian Burns No. 16 overall

The Panthers selected Florida State edge rusher Brian Burns with the No. 16 overall selection of the 2019 NFL draft.

Carolina lost Julius Peppers to retirement, so it was evident that they needed a pass rusher to fill the gaping hole on the defensive line.

Burns, a long, Gumby-like rusher will threaten most tackles with his explosive first step, long arms, and ability to dip around the corner. If he develops go-to pass-rushing moves with his hands to counter and adds more bulk to his frame, Burns can be an All-Pro edge rusher for the Panthers.
