2019 NFL Draft: NT Daylon Mack presents fourth-round option for Titans

There’s been a lot of talk at what the Tennessee Titans can do in the first and second rounds of the 2019 NFL Draft to fix issues on both sides of the ball.

What hasn’t been dug quite as deeply into are the later rounds of the event, which can prove equally as important.

And when it’s time for the Titans to make their fourth-round selection at No. 121 overall, Texas A&M nose tackle Daylon Mack may be the perfect candidate.

While the Titans’ defense has shown steady improvement under the leadership of defensive coordinator Dean Pees, it still struggles against teams with stout offense lines like the Redskins.

An addition like Mack may be part of the remedy if the Titans choose to pick him up.

The Titans found issues particularly in the trenches last season, and this is an area in which Mack may be able to provide help in.

The 6-foot-1, 320-pounder’s last year in College Station was a career season, as he recorded 23 total tackles, was third on the team with 5.5 sacks.

It’s likely Tennessee will not try to incorporate him as a big-time playmaker, or give him a lot of snaps starting out.

So while Mack won’t be called on to fill a major role in the beginning, there will be certain situations like on run downs they need bring more established players like Jayon Brown and Rashaan Evans some assistance.
