2019 NFL Draft: Notre Dame’s Jerry Tillery could provide first-round option for Titans

The Tennessee Titans head into the 2019 NFL Draft with an edge rusher high on their wish list.

In general manager Jon Robinson’s search for the perfect player to complement a rising Harold Landry, he should give Notre Dame’s Jerry Tillery a look.

While Tillery does struggle with consistency, the raw talent and sheer athletic ability he provides make him a player worth developing. Tillery would provide pressure especially within the interior, an area the Titans have struggled with.

The Draft Wire’s Zach Hicks listed Tillery as one of the top four options for the Titans in the first round.

“His pass rushing ability is deadly from the interior and he is capable of being a disruptive force,” he wrote. “He put that skillset on display last season with a monster four sack game against Stanford. There may be some growing pains with Tillery but he is a high end interior talent that the Titans should target round one.”

On the 2018 season, Tillery totaled 29 combined tackles, eight sacks and three forced fumbles. Over four seasons with the Fighting Irish, Tillery has recorded 131 combined tackles, 12 sacks and four forced fumbles.

Regardless of which move Robinson decides to take in the first round, the Titans need to acquire a quality pass rusher between the free agency and the draft before the 2019 NFL season kicks off.
