2019 NFL Draft: Nick Bosa leads Draft Wire’s EDGE rankings

Even though free agency is still over a month away, there is a growing discussion of how teams might approach the 2019 NFL Draft. For the Indianapolis Colts, that discussion is mainly tailored around the edge rusher position.

There a are a few needs the Colts must address this offseason, but general manager Chris Ballard has made it clear the top priority is to improve an inconsistent pass rush. Should he do so in April’s draft, there are several options to choose from.

As the draft process continues, Luke Easterling of Draft Wire’s ranked the top 20 edge rushers. Here’s a look at the top 10 players in the rankings as it currently stands:

  1. Nick Bosa, Ohio State
  2. Josh Allen, Kentucky
  3. Clelin Ferrell, Clemson
  4. Jachai Polite, Florida
  5. Montez Sweat, Mississippi
  6. Brian Burns, Florida State
  7. Jaylon Ferguson, Louisiana Tech
  8. Oshane Ximinies, Old Dominion
  9. Chase Winovich, Michigan
  10. Joe Jackson, Miami (FL)

Sitting with the No. 26 overall pick in the first round, the Colts could certainly use that selection on one of the top edge rushers if the right one falls to Ballard.

Though there is a young crop of pass rusher currently on the defensive line, the entire unit would benefit from the addition of a premier talent coming off the edge.

It remains to be seen how the Colts will go through this offseason, but there are names in the rankings that should be noted as the draft process moves along.
