2019 NFL Draft: Michigan DL Rashan Gary to visit the Jags

Michigan University star Rashan Gary is a month away from one of the most important days of his life as he’ll be selected early in the first-round of next months draft. And though most believe the Jacksonville Jaguars won’t go with a defensive lineman, he told NFL Network that he at least has a meeting set up with the team and several others within the top-10 selections.

Gary, 21, has been widely viewed as a top-12 talent this offseason after coming off a season at Michigan where he was able to rack up 38 tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks. Many project him to be a five-technique in the NFL, while others think he could maybe be a solid three-technique. Those are the two spots the Jags predominantly use Calais Campbell at, which means it’s possible the Jags could see him as a successor for the veteran.

The Jags initially thought 2018 first-round pick Taven Bryan could be the successor to Campbell, however, he proved to be a better interior defender than on the outside. If they want to take a second swing at finding an answer, maybe Gary could be the pick though an offensive player is more likely.
