2019 NFL Draft: Mel Kiper predicts Titans will take Clemson DT Christian Wilkins in first round

ESPN NFL Draft analyst Mel Kiper released his second mock draft of the offseason on Monday morning, and he’s made a big change in his prediction for the Tennessee Titans’ first-round pick.

At No. 19 overall, Kiper has Tennessee selecting Clemson defensive tackle, Christian Wilkins.

His reasoning behind the projection?

Kiper seems to believe the Titans have not gotten the right level of production from former LSU standout, Bennie Logan.

“Tennessee got very little last season from free-agent addition Bennie Logan, and the defense could upgrade on either side of elite nose tackle Jurrell Casey in its 3-4,” he wrote. “Wilkins (6-4, 312) could play tackle in a 4-3 or end in a 3-4. The Titans will likely keep a close eye on edge-rushing outside linebackers here, but the value with Wilkins on my board is too good to pass up.”

Wilkins established himself as a piece of school history at Clemson, becoming the university’s first ever William V. Campbell Trophy winner.

He played all four collegiate seasons with the Tigers, totaling 250 tackles, 41 tackles for loss, 16 sacks, 56 quarterback pressures, 16 pass breakups, three forced fumbles and four fumble recoveries over 59 games.

We’ll see if GM Jon Robinson’s ideology aligns with Kiper’s when the Titans make their decision at No. 19 on April 25.
